The Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team returns to action this weekend (April 17–19) at the legendary TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands, which will host Round 2 of the 2026 FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship. Maria Herrera and Natalia Rivera are both eager to get back on track.
Following a strong season opener in Portimão, reigning World Champion Maria Herrera is determined to build further momentum and consolidate her championship lead. The Spanish rider has enjoyed success at Assen in the past, including a win and a third-place finish last year. After securing pole position, a victory, and a second-place finish in the opening round, both rider and team are aiming to replicate that performance this weekend.
Teammate Natalia Rivera is also targeting a solid weekend. In Portugal, the young Spanish rider consistently battled for fourth place in both races, demonstrating steady progress and competitive pace throughout the event. The 19-year-old made her WorldWCR debut at Assen last year, and with greater experience and familiarity with both the track and the championship, she is aiming even higher this time.
The event schedule features free practice and Superpole qualifying on Friday. Race 1 will take place on Saturday at 12:00 CEST, followed by Race 2 at the same time on Sunday.
Maria Herrera: “It’s great to be back racing so soon, especially after such a strong season opener. I’m really looking forward to riding at such an iconic venue as TT Circuit Assen. I was competitive here last year, and I’m confident that together with the team we can have another strong weekend. We’ll need to stay fully focused, as the competition is very high and every detail counts, but I feel we’re well prepared and ready to give our best.”
“I’m really excited to start this new season and to continue working with the team. Last year was an important learning experience for all of us, and we made constant progress throughout the championship. Now it’s time to take the next step. We finished 2025 close to the front group, and the goal this season is to be there consistently and fight for our first podium. I feel more confident, more prepared and more determined than ever. Having Maria as a teammate is a huge opportunity — she’s a benchmark in this championship, and I want to learn everything I can from her. I’m hungry to improve and ready to prove myself.” “After the season opener in Portugal, it’s nice to be back on the bike again so quickly. We had a solid weekend in Portimão, and I hope we can carry that momentum forward and continue improving. The goal is to close the gap to the front and take the final step to consistently fight at the front. Last year, Assen was a very special moment for me as it marked my debut in the World Championship. Now, with more experience, I’m confident that together with the team we can have a strong weekend and achieve good results. I can’t wait to get started.” Non vedo l’ora di essere lì.”
