Sara Sánchez Secures Double Podium for Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team in Assen Race 2

Sara Sánchez of the Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team delivered another strong performance at the iconic TT Circuit Assen, claiming third place in Race 2 and securing her second podium of the weekend.

The day began with a damp Warm-Up session at 09:20, offering valuable wet track experience for both Sara Sánchez and teammate Natalia Rivera — their first time using wet compounds on the Yamaha R7. Sánchez (#64) completed the session 17th with a time of 2’12.666, closely followed by Rivera (#20), who posted a 2’12.763.

By race time, conditions had shifted, with the sun breaking through to provide a dry track for the 12-lap contest. Launching from the front row, Sánchez got off to a brilliant start and immediately placed herself in the fight for victory. The 27-year-old rider showed impressive pace and racecraft throughout, ultimately taking the checkered flag in third, just 0.423 seconds behind the winner — marking her second podium of the weekend.

Meanwhile, Rivera also enjoyed a strong start, climbing to ninth on the opening lap. The reigning Women’s European Champion continued to gain experience and valuable data in her WorldWCR campaign. Despite a challenging race, she crossed the line in 15th, earning her first-ever point in the World Championship.

Sara Sánchez – P3
“It felt great to be back fighting for the race win — this should be our foundation for the rest of the season. We’ve shown again that we can compete at the front, and we’ll keep pushing hard every round. I gave it everything today and really enjoyed the battle. Coming home with a double podium is a great start, and we’ll do everything possible to carry this momentum into Cremona, where our goal will be to fight for the win again.”

Natalia Rivera – P15
“I had a very good start and found myself in ninth early on. I hoped I could push for more, but I struggled a bit with the bike’s feeling over the race distance, which cost me time and positions. We’re still learning, and I’m confident we’ll keep progressing. Scoring my first World Championship point and gaining valuable experience is a big step forward. I can’t wait to get to Cremona and continue improving.”
