The Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team riders Maria Herrera and Natalia Rivera wrapped up the 2026 FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship with a strong performance in Race 2, crossing the finish line in fourth and ninth place, respectively.
Having secured the WorldWCR title yesterday, Herrera lined up for the final race of the season determined to end the year on a high. Starting from seventh on the grid, she quickly moved into the lead in the early stages before battling for a podium position all the way to the chequered flag. In the 11-lap contest, the Spaniard narrowly missed out on a rostrum finish at the final corner, crossing the line in fourth place.
Rivera also put in a solid performance, starting from fifth on the grid and aiming to fight for another podium finish. The young Spaniard showed consistent pace throughout the 11 laps, working hard to make her way through the field. She eventually crossed the line in ninth place.
As a result, Herrera ends the season as WorldWCR Champion with 250 points and a 28-point advantage over her closest rival. Rivera concludes her 2026 campaign in eighth place in the Championship standings, with 84 points.
Maria Herrera: P4
“It’s a bit disappointing to miss out on the podium on the final lap, but overall, it was a consistent race. Maybe we were missing a little bit of pace, but we were still able to fight for the win again, which is great. I would have loved to give the team and my fans one last podium, but it was an exciting and enjoyable race, so overall, we can be satisfied. Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for their support, the team for all their hard work, and everyone who helped make this season possible.”
Natalia Rivera: P9
“I would have liked to fight for the podium again, but today we were missing a little bit compared to the others, so it wasn’t possible in the end. We still had some good pace and tried to work our way through the field. We finish the season in ninth place, which isn’t the result we were hoping for, but it’s not too bad either. I’d like to thank everyone who supported me throughout the year, as well as my team. I believe we’ve made a great step forward, and I want to keep building on that next season.”
