The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team returned to action today at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto, Spain, for the first day of racing at the final round of the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship. Remy Gardner fought his way up to 15th place in Race 1, securing a valuable championship point.
Following Free Practice 3, the Australian rider pushed hard in Superpole but was unable to qualify higher than 17th. Starting from the sixth row, Gardner showed consistent pace throughout the 21-lap Race 1, fighting hard to make up ground. He eventually secured 15th place with a late move on the final lap, adding another point to his championship tally.
It was a challenging Saturday for Stefano Manzi. After qualifying 19th in Superpole, the Italian rider fought hard in Race 1, gaining positions from his starting spot and showing encouraging pace during the opening half of the race. However, he struggled with grip in the latter stages and eventually crossed the finish line in 17th place.
Both riders will be back on track tomorrow for the final day of the 2026 season, with the Superpole Race scheduled for 11:10 local time, followed by Race 2 at 15:30.
Remy Gardner – Superpole: P17 / Race 1: P15
“It wasn’t an easy Saturday, to be honest, and we’ll take a look at everything we can improve to get better performance tomorrow. We managed to score a point with a strong push towards the end of the race, but of course, this isn’t where we want to be. We’ll take the point and keep pushing for more tomorrow. We all want to finish the season on a high, so we’ll stay confident and hope for the best. We’ll also have to keep an eye on the weather, as we could face wet conditions tomorrow.”
Stefano Manzi – Superpole: P19 / Race 1: P17
“It wasn’t the Saturday we were hoping for. We tried to push hard and make the most of every opportunity, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. We’ll keep pushing and look for more performance ahead of the final day of the season. We all want to end the year on a positive note, so we’ll stay confident and make the most of every opportunity, especially with the possibility of unpredictable weather conditions that could work in our favour.”
