Remy Gardner and Dominique Aegerter completed their first ever WorldSBK Friday at the iconic Phillip Island circuit, showing consistent speed to find themselves 11th and 13th combined.

The GYTR GRT Yamaha duo enjoyed a decent Free Practice 1 session, focusing on getting the most from their Yamaha R1 machines. In the 45-min practice, local hero Gardner placed 10th (1’31.655) with his teammate Aegerter just behind (1'31.855).

With temperatures rising in the afternoon Free Practice 2, both riders primary focus was on race speed rather than flying laps. After completing two long runs showing decent pace, Aegerter was still able to improve his FP1 time finishing in 6th (1’31.720). On the other side of the garage, Gardner concluded in top 10 once again (1’31.836), yet not improving from the morning.

“Oggi ci siamo concentrati più sul lavorare in ottica gara e cercare di capire quali gomme usare per la gara. Adesso lo scenario è un po’ più chiaro. Sfortunatamente abbiamo avuto alcuni problemi nel pomeriggio, ma continueremo a lavorare e stiamo già analizzando i dati di oggi per migliorarci nella giornata di domani in modo da disputare una bella gara.”

“La giornata non è andata male, anche se la posizione non rispecchia pienamente il potenziale. Abbiamo provato diverse opzioni in ottica gara, adesso controlleremo i dati a disposizione per studiare un piano per gara e qualifica. La squadra ha fatto un bel lavoro, credo che siamo pronti sul giro secco per poi arrivare preparati alla prima gara della stagione.”
