GRT YAMAHA WORLDSBK TEAM RETURNS TO TESTING AT MISANO

Following the first test session of the season in Aragón on 2nd-3rd March, the GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team is set to return to action on 16th-17th March at Misano with Kohta Nozane and Garrett Gerloff.

Having completed the first outing of 2022 season, both riders and the crew will continue their work with the Yamaha R1 bikes for another two days of testing, gearing up their preparation for the upcoming FIM World Superbike Championship season.

Previously in Aragón, Nozane had the opportunity to regain feeling on the Yamaha R1 after the Winter break. The Japanese rider and the GRT Yamaha team tested many items, being able to complete 74 laps in total with more work to do at Misano.

On the other side of the box, Gerloff got his first laps on the R1 this year in Spain. The American rider and the team enjoyed the two days in Aragón, trialling parts and focusing on getting the feeling back. Gerloff ended his first roll-out with 85 laps in total and has plans with the GRT Yamaha team for the Misano test.

After this, the GRT Yamaha squad will head to Barcelona for the test on 25th-26th March, before the final official test with all teams scheduled for 4th-5th April in Aragon. That will take place just a few days before the 2022 FIM World Superbike Championship season gets underway with Round 1 at the Teruel venue.
Garrett Gerloff: “It’s nice to return to the bike quite soon after the first test we had in Aragón. We tried many things there and I enjoyed riding the Yamaha R1 again. Overall, the two days in Spain were great and I can’t wait to turn some laps again at a different track. We’ll keep working with the team in Misano on what we learned in Aragón and try to enjoy this test. I’m looking forward to it and to see the guys at the GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team again.”

Kohta Nozane: “It was really nice coming back on track in Aragón after a long break. Riding again the Yamaha R1 has been fantastic and I cannot wait to do it once more in Misano. I like the circuit and Italy is my second home, so I hope for two good days. We’ve some work to do, starting from what we saw in Spain, where we had two satisfying days.”

Filippo Conti claims: “An intense month awaits us after our first outing in Aragón. We’re ready to back on track in Misano on 16th-17th March to continue the good job done and get ready for the beginning of the season. In Spain we started to work on 2022 and got the feeling back, now we’ll keep working and trying the materials we have hoping for two good days.”
