Dominique Aegerter and Remy Gardner are set to return to action at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portimão), Portugal, for Round 2 of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship on March 28-30.
At the season opener in Australia, the GYTR GRT Yamaha riders faced a challenging start but still managed to collect valuable points and demonstrate strong pace at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Aegerter secured solid finishes in both races, while Gardner impressed in the Superpole Race with a competitive performance.
Ahead of the Portuguese Round, the team took part in a productive two-day test at the same venue on March 14-15. Gardner was in the mix throughout, finishing the test with the fifth-fastest time, while Aegerter completed a solid number of laps, gathering crucial data for the race weekend. Both riders are eager to translate their progress into strong results in Round 2.
Following Friday’s free practice sessions and Superpole qualifying, Race 1 will take place on Saturday at 14:00 local time (WEST), with Race 2 scheduled for the same time on Sunday, following the Superpole Race at 11:00.
Dominique Aegerter: “We’re finally back racing after the season opener, and I can’t wait to get the weekend underway. It was great to have some testing time in Portimão recently, as we were able to collect valuable data. I’m confident we can make the most of it to put together a strong Round 2. Our goal is to push hard from the start, be fast and consistent throughout all sessions, and improve our overall performance. I also hope for good and stable weather.”
Remy Gardner: “We had a really good test a few days ago, which gives us confidence heading into Round 2. Our overall pace was promising, and I can’t wait to get back on track at the Portimão rollercoaster. Hopefully, the weather will be on our side. It’ll be important to start strong on Friday to build momentum for a solid race weekend.”
