Dominique Aegerter will sit out of Round 11 of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship at Circuito do Estoril this weekend after sustaining a hand injury in a training accident earlier this week.
The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK rider has broken the fifth metacarpal in his right hand and will undergo surgery on the injury later today.
As a result, the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team will compete with Remy Gardner as their sole representative at Estoril. The Australian rider is determined to deliver a strong performance after an unfortunate 2024 round at the Portuguese venue, where an incident in Race 1 ended his weekend prematurely.
Armed with valuable experience and a package that has traditionally performed well at Estoril, Gardner and the team are confident heading into the weekend — though they remain cautious of the rapidly changing weather conditions typical of the region.
Following Friday’s Free Practice sessions and Superpole qualifying, Race 1 will take place on Saturday at 14:00 local time (CEST). The Superpole Race is scheduled for Sunday at 11:00, followed by Race 2 at 14:00.
Dominique Aegerter: “I am devastated to be missing Estoril; I was more than ready to go and looking forward riding there a lot. I am sorry for my team, all the fans and my sponsors and I will look to come back stronger.
Remy Gardner: “First of all, I want to wish Domi a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in Jerez for the season finale. It’s been a tough and unlucky year for him, so I really wish him all the best. On our side, we’re ready to close out the season strongly across these final two rounds — both tracks that should suit our bike and where the team has shown good pace in the past. Last year, things didn’t go our way at Estoril and we had little time on the dry, but I’m confident we can be competitive this time. The weather can always play a role there, so we’ll be prepared for any conditions.”
