Strongest Qualifying of the Year for Rivera at the New Balaton Park

The Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team returned to action at Hungary’s brand-new Balaton Park for Round 4 of the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship. Both Sara Sánchez and Natalia Rivera enjoyed solid performances in qualifying, securing sixth and ninth places respectively on the Race 1 grid.

The day started with Free Practice 1 at 09:40 local time, where both riders focused on adapting to the unfamiliar circuit while laying the groundwork for a strong Superpole. In the 25-minute session, Sánchez posted the seventh-fastest time with a 1’56.896, while Rivera was ninth with a 1’57.361.

Later in the day, during Superpole, the Terra&Vita GRT Yamaha duo stepped up their pace significantly. Sánchez delivered a consistent improvement to finish sixth with a 1’54.700—just shy of the front row. Meanwhile, Rivera impressed with her best qualifying performance of the season so far. The 18-year-old rookie clocked a 1’55.631 to secure ninth place on the grid.

Sara Sánchez – P6 (1’54.700)
“It wasn’t the easiest day, but there's still room for improvement. We’ll also use tomorrow’s Warm-Up to take another step forward. A good start will be crucial to stay with the front group and fight for the podium in Race 1. I’m confident we can do it and continue improving for the races.”

Natalia Rivera – P9 (1’55.631)
“Considering it was my first time here, the day went quite well. My feeling on the bike improved a lot from morning to afternoon, and I was able to keep improving my lap times to enjoy a strong Superpole. Ninth is my best qualifying of the year so far. We’ll keep pushing to improve further and aim to stay with the front pack in Race 1. A good start will be key.”
