Strong Sixth and Eighth for Gardner and Aegerter in Magny-Cours Race 1

The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team delivered a solid opening day of racing at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, France, securing valuable points as Remy Gardner and Dominique Aegerter finished sixth and eighth respectively in Race 1.

The day began with Free Practice 3, where both riders fine-tuned their set-ups ahead of the Tissot Superpole session. Gardner posted a strong lap (1’36.013) to place fourth, while Aegerter was 15th (1’36.797).

Confidence was high going into Superpole, and both riders pushed hard in the 15-minute qualifying session. Gardner clocked a 1’35.793 to secure ninth on the grid, with Aegerter just one row behind in 12th (1’35.981).

When the lights went out for Race 1, both GYTR GRT Yamaha riders made strong starts, gaining positions on the opening lap. They maintained a competitive pace throughout the 21-lap contest, with Gardner climbing to an impressive sixth place at the flag and Aegerter gaining four positions to finish eighth, scoring valuable championship points.

Remy Gardner – Superpole: P9 / Race 1: P6
“As I mentioned yesterday, I’m still feeling a bit sore after the Balaton incident, so managing all the laps here in France wasn’t easy, especially on such a physically demanding track with lots of direction changes. I did my best to manage the race, and overall, sixth is a solid result as well as the pace. Of course, we’d like to be a bit faster, but given the circumstances, we can be satisfied. Tomorrow we’ll push to improve and aim to feel more comfortable across all laps in the remaining races.”

Dominique Aegerter – Superpole: P12 / Race 1: P8
“In the end, P8 is not too bad, but we were not as fast as we expected. I thought our race pace would be better, so we’ll check the data and work hard to improve for tomorrow, aiming to be faster and more consistent. I’m confident we can take a step forward and fight closer to the front. First, we’ll target a strong sprint race to secure a better grid position for Race 2.”
