The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team returns to action this weekend (27\u201329 March) at the Aut\u00f3dromo Internacional do Algarve in Portim\u00e3o for Round 2 of the FIM Superbike World Championship, with Remy Gardnerand Stefano Manzi ready to take on the Portuguese round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the demanding season opener in Phillip Island, Gardner completed a one-day private test at the Portim\u00e3o circuit a few weeks ago. The Australian rider and his crew completed 31 laps during the session, focusing on preparations for the upcoming round. Encouraged by the positive feedback gathered during the test, the #87 rider heads into the weekend aiming to fight for strong results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side of the garage, rookie Manzi is eager to continue building experience aboard the Yamaha R1. The reigning FIM Supersport World Champion also completed valuable track time at Portim\u00e3o during a recent test, logging 32 laps despite challenging weather conditions. The Italian rider will look to use the race weekend to further adapt to the bike and continue closing the gap to the front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Portuguese round will also mark the start of the FIM Women\u2019s Circuit Racing World Championship season, with the Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team joining the event. During the official test on 23 March, Maria Herrera topped the timesheets, while teammate Natalia Rivera secured a place inside the top ten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Track action will begin on Saturday with the Tissot Superpole session at 11:10, followed by Race 1 at 15:30 local time. Sunday will feature the Superpole Race at 11:10, before the weekend concludes with Race 2 at 15:30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remy Gardner:<\/strong>\u201cIt\u2019s great to be back racing after a challenging start to the season in Australia. We had a test here in Portim\u00e3o a few weeks ago and, despite limited track time, we were able to make some progress. The goal for this weekend is to continue improving, close the gap to the front and fight for solid positions in the races.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefano Manzi: <\/strong>\u201cIt\u2019s always exciting to be back on track and continue gaining experience with the Yamaha R1. The opening round was not the easiest, but we gathered important information that will help us moving forward. We also tested here recently and, despite the weather conditions, we were able to complete some useful laps. We\u2019ll keep working hard this weekend to improve our pace and aim for consistent results.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
