Dominique Aegerter added more points to his tally in the opening round of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship, securing a 12th-place finish in the final feature race of the weekend at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GYTR GRT Yamaha duo made good use of the final warm-up session, logging crucial laps ahead of the Tissot Superpole Race. Aegerter posted a 1\u201930.174 to finish 13th, while Gardner recorded a 1\u201930.391, placing 17th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Tissot Superpole Race, the #87 and #77 riders battled hard until the chequered flag for a top nine finish. Both showed consistent pace throughout the 10-lap contest but narrowly missed out, crossing the line in 10th and 11th, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting from 13th and 15th on the grid in the final race of the weekend, Gardner and Aegerter faced a challenging start. The Swiss rider once again demonstrated solid race pace, fighting for a top ten position throughout the 20-lap contest before ultimately crossing the line in 12th to secure more points. In an unfortunate twist, Gardner struggled with rear grip in the first half of the race. Following the flag-to-flag procedure, the local hero found better speed, but his race hopes came to an end five laps from the finish after a crash in Turn 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>\u201cWe pushed as much as we could, but it wasn\u2019t an easy weekend. In the sprint race, we were fighting for a top nine position, which would have been a big help for the final feature race, but unfortunately, we couldn\u2019t quite make it. I had to start Race 2 from 15th, doing my best to stay close to the riders ahead. Once again, we showed consistent speed, battling for a top ten finish before ultimately crossing the line in 12th. We\u2019ll analyse the data and use it to improve our performance moving forward.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>\u201cNot the weekend we wanted. In the sprint race, we managed to stay close to the top nine, but it was a tough fight in a very tight pack, and unfortunately, we just missed out by a small margin. That meant I had to start 13th in the final race, where I pushed as much as possible early on. Unfortunately, a tyre issue held me back in the first half, making it a challenging race. After the flag-to-flag, our pace wasn\u2019t too bad, but catching the riders ahead to score more points was difficult. Sadly, I crashed in the latter stages, which wasn\u2019t the way we wanted to end the weekend. Now, we\u2019ll reset and come back stronger in Portima\u0303o.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
